Pamukkale, formerly Akköy, is Denizli's second most populous district as of 2024. Its name was changed by Law No. 6360, passed by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on November 12, 2012. It consists of 61 neighborhoods. The Pamukkale travertines, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1988, are located in this district.
